The use of nuclear power demands a time perspective which is on the scale of geological periods and therefore utterly unsuited to human brains and human culture.

By this token of “geological periods,” aren’t fossil fuels even less human-appropriate? Does anyone know what “natural gas” is? 

The energy in natural gas came from the sun via plants; radioactive materials come from the supernovae of other stars and thus predate Earth. Also note that energy is released from fossil fuels by breaking large molecules into smaller ones, whereas nuclear power breaks atoms.

It seems reasonable to associate them with different ballparks of energetic circulation.
